If there is one thing I have learned about this weekend, is that trying to starve yourself the note before your weigh in does NOT work. I had really hoped to add to my elliptical ride on Saturday night by drastically reducing my calorie intake on Sunday. I had done well until about 5pm. I eat a small bowl of cereal in the morning, tried some Darjeeling tea at the movies (no popcorn!), and came home and took some grapes and orange juice...for....my........supper.......at 4pm. By 5pm, I was literally starving, and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to lazt to want to defrost anything to make for supper.
I had a craving. A craving for spaghetti. Spagetti smokemeat. Extra smoked meat. I give myself all kinds of excuses for it, like 'hey, I had very acidity snacks before eating, it will desolve away all that pasta and meat', or 'I will still be finished before 7pm and I could do another 30 on the elliptical'. I knew I was not going to do any exercice, but my cravings used that as an excuse to order anyway.
End result of my week, 267 pounds. I gained a half pound from last week's weigh in. A friend of mine had some fun with me the other day, wondering if this blog was more about me maintaining than losing. In the overall scheme of things, I have still lost 3 pounds. 1 pound per week, which is about what you should expect in a diet with no exercise.
Here is what I have learned in that time:
* Diet alone is a slow path to changing one's lifestyle.
* herbal teas alone will not help you lose weight, although I will say that you definitely feel healthier
* I must increase my desire to exercise in order to get better results, since I know that restaurants will continue to be a part of my weekly habits. However, I can select better, more healthier dishes.
