While I have set some general guidelines for myself, one thing I am realizing I am missing are deadlines for each of my 20 pound stages. Keeping in mind that next stage is dependent on the last, target dates for stages 3 through 5 at this point should just be considered as probable and not fixed. So, if I take into consideration where I was at the end of week 4 (267 pounds), and I start with an aggressive target of 2 pounds per week, I am going to set a completion date for leg 1 for 8Th of May. That will give me about 8 weeks to lose 17 pounds (I will be finished week 5 as of tomorrow).
With motivation and determination, my entry as of May 8Th will be a recap of lessons learned to lose that first 20, and an action plan to maintain my trend for the next leg of 20. It will also be when I can reward myself for that accomplish of getting to 250 pounds. My problem right now is that I honestly have not figured out what it could be. The thought of eating something completely unhealthy has crossed my mind, but since I am not really on a diet, I doubt I would get that much pleasure out of it. Not enough as a suitable motivation for me to keep on a 2 pound a week chase.
For now, I am kicking around in idea for sports trips. I love going to see new places, new cities, and new experiences, and I have never gone to see a baseball game outside of Montreal. I did take a 3 game package about 10 years ago where I went to Chicago to see the Bears play the Chargers in Soldier's Field, then crossed town to see the championship Bulls play the Charlotte Hornets, and finished off in Detroit to see the Lions take on the future super bowl champion Green Bay Packers. I absolutely loved it, but since we would be in May, there is really only baseball. While I am not a big baseball fan, I do love sports and would love to see the Yankees in New York and then catch a Broadway show (maybe Rent, since I loved the movie version). May be a little too expensive, but I really wanted something to highlight the fact that I have taken a serious step in changing my life, and what better way to illustrate that, then by living out my life and really taking in what this world has to offer.
My next target date for losing the 2ND leg of 20 pounds would be July 17Th. Really not that bad of a date when you think about. We will be in full summer, and I will be healthier than I have been in 6 years. I will be at almost the same weight I was when I met my wife, hopefully have a few months of Judo under my belt and be fitting into a size 40 pants. Have not planned out my reward yet, because I don't want to get ahead of myself. One day and a time, one step and a time is important. And I do not want to undervalue my motivational goal for my first 20, by thinking about bigger and better rewards that will come later.
